#5: Stand Out From the Mainstream with John Lee Dumas
Today we will be talking with John Lee Dumas. John grew up in Maine for the first 18 years of his life. After he graduated high school, he was awarded an Army scholarship to attend Providence College in Rhode Island. He was commissioned in the US Army after graduation and spent 13 months on active duty in Iraq.
After he left the Army, John had a crisis: He struggled to find his mission. He tried and quit law school. He worked several temporary jobs that never seemed to stick. It was during the process of finding himself that he fell in love with podcasting. He’d listen to his favorite shows on his commute to work. When nothing seemed to stick, podcasting helped inspire him. It was then, at 32-years-old, that he decided to give it a shot.
Through how John spun it, he has become one of the most successful podcasters in the world. He has published over 2,500 episodes of Entrepreneurs on Fire, earned over 80 million listens, published three books, and created a wildly successful career that helped to transform the podcasting industry. Welcome to the show, John!
